Wow, the Labor Department announced today that the country’s unemployment rate has reached 9.8% which is highest in 26 years (going back to 1983). Since the start of the recession in December 2007, more than 15 million people have lost their jobs. Companies refuse to hire new employees and those who have a job, are extremely nervous.
In my opinion, the FED’s desparate attempts by putting bandaids on different segments of the economy have done little to fix the major problems we’re experiencing right now.
I think there are major underlying issues all around us and pumping money into the economy will do more harm than good. As FED’s loosen the money supply, the inflation goes up. As inflation goes up, interest rates will start to climb eventually.
We need to be prepared for tough times throught the end of 2009 and maybe early 2010 before we can see any real sign of recovery.
